About the Project:
The Journey to Atlantis represents the future of theme park rides for SeaWorld, San Diego. This exciting ride is a combination of a water slide and a roller coaster.
Orange County Erectors, Inc. fabricated and erected the ride structure and installed the ride rails which were fabricated in Germany.
The project included over 500,000 pounds of steel on the 3 towers which form the structure of the ride (over 48,000 square feet). The largest tower is over 60 feet high.
Unusual engineering requirements on this project that demanded precise fabrication included special skewed brace frames and compound miter connections on the towers.
The Journey to Atlantis is scheduled to open to the public on Memorial Day weekend 2004.
