Orange County Erectors, Inc. proudly announces the fabrication and erection of a new manufacturing and distribution facility for Nong Shim Company in Rancho Cucamonga, California.

The project consisting of manufacturing facility, distribution center and office building requires fabrication and erection of over 1,100 tons of structural and miscellaneous steel.

The groundbreaking ceremony for Nong Shim’s new facility took place in Rancho Cucamonga on April 6, 2004 and was attended by key California dignitaries as well as the top executives of Nong Shim Co., Ltd..

Ken Hantula, the Project Manager on this project, says, “This is one of those jobs where the schedule is crucial to the customer and a lot of steel has to be produced in a short amount of time to keep up with the field erection."

Joe Pennachio, the Field Supperintendent, is proud to share with us that, “Our field crew used a new type of crane hoisting on this project which we have never done before.”

“It was a huge success,” he smiles. “I was impressed. It helped to save our company a significant amount of money for rental equipment and put us two weeks ahead of schedule.”

Ken adds, “This project is a success for many reasons, but mainly because, from beginning to end, every member of our team communicated well and did their job.”

The nearly 270,000 square feet facility is scheduled to be completed in February 2005.

When finished, it will create a minimum of 300 new jobs in the area.

Mr. Edward Shin, President of Nong Shim America, Inc., declared: “This factory will become a flagship facility for a number of future food manufacturing and distribution ventures in North and South America in the years ahead.

The general contractor on this project is McClier Corporation located in Orange, California.

Orange County Erectors, Inc. has been awarded the structural steel contract on the Orange County Performing Arts Center expansion in Costa Mesa, California.

The new expansion includes the 2,000 seat Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall and the 500 seat multi-purpose Samueli Theater.

Steel fabrication is scheduled to start in December 2003 and expected to finish in early 2005.

The project includes over 1,000 tons of structural steel members and includes 8 large trusses over the main theater. The largest truss is 125 feet long and weighs over 80,000 pounds.

The General Contractor on the project is Flour Enterprises, Inc. based in Mission Viejo, California.

recognized by California Occupational Safety and Heath Administration

The Orange County office of Turner Construction Company and its subcontractors were awarded Star Status in the California Voluntary Protection Program (CAL/VPP) on October 16, by the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (CAL/OSHA).

The award was presented by Stephen Smith, Secretary of Labor and David Bare, Division of Occupational Safety and Health Program Manager for the State of California.

The award acknowledged the exemplary safety program at the construction site for Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc., South Campus project in Torrance, California.

CAL/VPP certification recognizes employers whose occupational safety and health programs are exemplary and meet specific guidelines, which include: management commitment, employee involvement, work site analysis, hazard prevention and control, and safety and health training.

This is the first time the award has been presented to a construction company in the VPP program’s 20-year history.

Ralph Vannucci, Orange County Erectors’ project manager on the Toyota South Campus project explained that “this award recognizes our company’s commitment to working with our partners to create a safe work place for our employees.”
